COMIC STRIPPED “SPAWN” & “SMORKIN BENDER”
Besides my canvasproject I still keep an eye on my custom works. Currently I’m working on several figures:
For FULLER DESIGN I’m creating a 7″ MUNNY with the SPAWN theme – here’s a little teaser shot:
Then I finally started with the VENOM custom and after the SIMPSONS LABBIT I started to work on the “SMORKIN BENDER” which shows FUTURAMA as the main theme…
THINK-PINK-CELLE – “COMIC STRIPPED EDITION”
Today I recieved a first image of the THINK-PINK-CELLE character in the COMIC STRIPPED EDITION.
aprox. 8″ height, clear resin – filled with parts of comic pieces…in this images the colored brain is missing.
I’m excited to see the figure in real life soon. Only 6 will be made – 2 are already reserved – so if you are interested you can either reserve one for yourself via eMail to me or check him out at New York Comic Con in october.
Whatever happened to my STITCH custom???
Yesterday I stumpled over some bad tweets about MINDSTYLE who is the responsible organisation behind DISNEY’S STITCH 626 EXPERIMENT CUSTOM SHOW around the globe.
As you all know I was very happy to be able to be part of this incredible show – beeing part of the show between all this great artists.
So I signed the contract MINDSTYLE/DISNEY sent me and worked on my 626 CUTIE MONSTER to send it to the states with an extra little CANVAS I did where it was exhibited at SDCC – and back at that time the running plan was to end the show in HAWAII where a big auction should’ve been take place – but it never did.
Somehow MINDSTYLE changed their mind and since then I have no clue where all the Stitches went to.
So here comes the bad part:
With the contract you signed it said that this piece will be for a charity auction – 50% of the sale goes to charity / 50% goes to artist.
I really liked the STITCH and wanted one for my own collection – so I offered MINDSTYLE to spend my 50% also to the charity and therefor recieve another blank STITCH.
They liked the idea and told me they are waiting for some more blanks and will send one out to me…
This was around July 2009 – and you guessed it – I never recieved another blank STITCH.
I tried to contact them countless times via email – but they don’t even reply.
So no 50% of a never happened AUCTION – no blank STITCH – and no clue what they did with it…
MINDSTYLE is a big company – is it really so hard to keep their artists up to date? Everybody did a nice job for a good cause – is it to hard to answer emails?
I hope someday – someone who is responsible will take a minute to write me back – and maybe there are other artists that are disapointed by this treatment as well – go write to MINDSTYLE!
Let’s keep bothering them!!!
COMIC STRIPPED 2.0
Like I mentioned before I’m currently working on canvases for my COMIC STRIPPED series.
So I joined with a phototeam which are good friends of mine – the Thal&Gentry sisters who were crazy enough to help me to make my visions come reality. We will ofcourse work on future productions together as well.
For this canvas works I made a collage with comics right on the models – just like I do on my custom toys. After this photos have been shot to work on the images digitally. Then the images will be printed on canvas before I apply more collages with comics right on the canvas.
Here you can see samples of the stage after the digital work – ofcourse when I’m finished with the canvases I will post pictures here.
A big thanks goes out to our models Hannah & Clary who helped us with this project and let us shoot some nice images.
JOUWE CUSTOM SHOW
Yesterday I showed you a sneak peek of my JOUWE custom – but today I can reveal some nice images of my latest custom for the COMIC STRIPPED series.
So this is my custom for the JOUWE CUSTOM SHOW which will start on the 2nd of october at ARTYFARTY GALLERY in Cologne.
Even if my schedule is tight – only 3 days after I will be on my way to the New York ComicConvention – I will try to be at the opening on the 2nd of october.
The original JOUWE toy shows a red colorway – so I decided to pick a Marvel Special Edition – the RED HULK – which only a few heard about that something like this existed.
